Owned by two friends, Monique and Gaynor, who became fast friends a few years back when their kids (at the age of two) decided to become little buddies in their first year of school. The rest is history, as they say!
The dream to start a studio together, was born from the love of yoga, mixed with art, creating a positive space for people to enjoy yoga, pilates, attend art classes, host a function or just enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. The possibilities are endless!
Limber Lotus Lifestyle Studio offers yoga for all ages ( kiddies, open level yoga, men's only yoga, therapeutic yoga, retirement yoga and coporate events) and all capabilities. Many friendships have blossomed from meeting on the mat!
Gaynor has practiced the art of yoga for over 12 years both locally and abroad.
Attending Monique's classes prior to opening their studio. Gaynor teaches the kids art classes and runs the functions at the studio. Her love for showing kids how to express themselves, combined with her love of yoga, lead her to do a kids yoga teacher training course. Helping create positive, happy kids through the practice of yoga and imagination.
Monique has developed her own style of teaching yoga, throughout the 18 years she has practiced her skill , having attending a YYI and Ashtanga teachers training.
Monique had a successful studio in Johannesburg for 8 years before relocating to Durban. Her positive affirmations during class and her love for the pureness of yoga, make her classes accessible for all ages and physical capabilities.
Sarah has been a Pilates instructor for the past 8 years, both in South Africa and the UK. Her love for Pilates grew when she realized how it can dramatically transform the way your body looks,feels and performs.
Although Sarah's Pilates classes are run independently,
She is a valuable member of the team.
Sarah has been practicing yoga for 12 years, she teaches our beginners yoga class, teaching the correct alignment and posture in poses .
Gayle has been practicing yoga for over 18 years and teaching since 2013. She incorporates aspects of TriYoga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, creating a relaxing, balancing and energizing class.
Gayle believes firmly in the capacity of yoga to transform a person's life and body, bringing wellness, joy and emotional balance.
She is an important part of the Limber Lotus team.
Mags started her yoga journey 8 years ago. Already an active person through yoga she noticed an improvement in her strength, endurance and flexibility. Yoga also served as the perfect remedy to release tight and rigid muscles after a strenuous training session.
Mags’ classes focus on combining energetic flows and restorative practices while getting safely into the asanas. The key elements in her classes are strong movements, proper alignment and individual adjustment.
Kids yoga is a fun way to enhance physical flexibility, it helps with concentration, balance, boosts self-esteem and confidence, all while using their imagination.
Yoga helps children develop body awareness and manage stress through breathing, awareness and healthy movement.
Yoga promotes physical strength, as children learn to use all their muscles in new ways.
On site yoga classes offered in retirement estates. Predominately chair yoga is practised, as it is a gentle form of yoga while sitting on a chair or standing while using a chair for support.
Chair yoga deepens flexibility and strengthens body awareness, together with physical and mental fitness.
Residents can learn many kinds of yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation , and ways of relaxation, with the aid of a chair.
